What type of dog is Buck personality wise?
Buck is a strong intelligent creature. He takes a powerful role in ‘Call of the Wild’ after being kidnapped and separated from the rich family he becomes a strong sled dog. When he was living with the rich family, he was petted, fed, groomed and treated like the cherished dog he is. He had everything he possibly wanted and needed. Buck is first described as a large dog of one hundred and forty pounds. He learns from observations of others, and finds he can dominate them easily.
Why was Buck treated so poorly?
Buck was hit and abused by all the men, especially the one in the red sweater, this was because they thought that Buck was going to try and hurt them, they also wanted to train Buck for transportation in a cruel way.
St Bernard's are also rescue dogs: they would carry a barrel full of alcohol around their necks, then they would search for people in the mountains and give them the alcohol. (usually whiskey.)
Fun Fact: the call of the wild alludes to the animal cruelty
